Crepe Paper Flowers

 This Page was originally done for May because,  Cinco De Mayo, Mother's Day, and National Nursing Home Week are in May and flowers are blooming everywhere. But you can make some colorful, festive paper flowers to brighten the scene at any time of the year, how about Chinese New Year in February, Hispanic Heritage Month or Grandparents Day in September? These flowers associated with Mexico and sometimes called Fiesta paper flowers or tissue paper flowers are very easy to make. However there are also more complicated and elaborate versions available as you'll find out when you check some of the links below for instructions and pictures. The materials are simple; crepe/tissue paper in a variety of bright colors, flower stem wire, florist tape, scissors. There may be other things needed but those are the basics. Activities: 

Just need some tissue paper for a project? Try our colorful Madras paper 

• Celebrate a special Day with and elegant tea and dessert decorate each table with the flowers you make. 

• Make flowers for Chinese New Year. 

• Have the group make flowers to decorate their rooms and the activity area. 

• While making flowers listen to "That's What Mama's Do" stories about mom on CD available in our store . Talk about what life was like when they were young and how their mama's were to them. 

• Make some flowers for Cinco De Mayo and have a fiesta with music and food. 

• Have flowers for your visitors during National Nursing Home Week. Put a label with the Facility Name on the stem of each flower. 

• Make some flowers for Grandparents Day or Mexican Heritage Month in September.

• At Christmas make red and green flowers.
